The Original Groundbreaking Ceremony
The Ceremonial "Ground Breaking" event was very exciting!
It was held on Thursday, March 17th 2005. There was a wonderful volcano cake that was donated by Charm City Cakes. There was even a volcano sculpture that 3rd grader, Hassahnii Garrett (from Waverly Elementary) gave an impressive speech from. Council woman Mary Pat Clarke said her piece from the volcano as well! People were wearing hard-hats in the spirit of the event. There were banners flying and some press, including Natasha Lesser who interviewed many involved for a spot on 88.1 WYPR. Many of the Playground Partners came to share their support for Our Playground at Stadium Place and for the community.
