Design Day:

On April 9, 2002, 400 children representing two area elementary schools and the Stadium School, which serves children from grades 4-8, met with a Leathers' playground architect. The children's ideas and drawings were the basis of the playground he designed. At lunchtime, he drew the design in the cafeteria at Waverly Elementary School and answered questions from the students. That evening, 300 people (about 200 children) attended a meeting at Montebello Elementary School. In addition to the architect's presentation, a jazz band, choir and step team from the schools entertained all.
